Folks, don’t get me wrong. I am all for privacy, but I must admit, when I saw this up date (broken down into four parts and not in order) on WhatsApp, it did raise an eyebrow. Does this cause concern for anyone else? I mean, what with the world we live in today, plotting here and plotting there, I don’t understand why this would come about.
I remember the London riot in 2011. Blackberry was blamed for not being able to check in on their customers Blackberry Messenger chats. It was claimed this was how the criminals were able to arrange meet ups – undetected – to go on looting sprees, which caused much damage and job losses.
Any thoughts on this?

A good point – isn’t this what the Apple security debate in America was about?

Is it? I’m not aware of that. I will have to check it out. I don’t have anything to hide, but this could be a very disastrous move.

It’s where the US gov wanted to access the terrorists iphone.
There are so manu paranoid people out there that all the government want to do is snoop on them that they would rather have device security than catch terrorists.

I believe there needs to be some amount of snooping. Unfortunately, we live in a beautiful, but very corrupt world, so we almost have to live ‘Big Brother’ style.

If it wasn’t for greed and corruption. What a world we live in!

Too many people worried about being spied Persia. Just some messages to calm them down. There is always ways to intercept key words in the middle of the way.

I agree. But if one has nothing to hide, then why be worried about ones messages being read? In and ideal world, it would be nice not to be spied on, but there are so many warped individuals out there, maybe we need to…?

Maybe in some way we all have something to hide?

Nope. I’m all out there!
I just don’t think it is a good idea for all messages/communication to go unscreened. It’s too dangerous.

You are right. But as I mentioned before, there ways to intercept, decrypt and trace messages without letting people new about it. You just let them think they are safe.

Yes, I guess so. I hope so. x

It is a little freaky. It actually made me think about the adults who say/send inappropriate things to children and the app is saying “hey – you can do all of that on our app and nobody will ever know!” It also seems to be opening the door to do anything illegal through the app and nobody should be able to find out about it.

Exactly. Thank you for explaining it better than I. I cannot believe they are serious about this. So dangerous. Geez…
