Too true. I have come to understand that the key to recovery is not found in persuading, or waiting for, others to realise what you already know: people will (or will not) do that in their own time. Recovery lies in letting all of that go and focusing instead on building a new and better future for yourself and those who matter.
I went through this in my marriage. And now in my divorce proceedings. Even though I was the one who filed for divorce, somehow, he’s the one calling all the shots, delaying the process, making it all about meeting his agenda. Frustrating!
I feel for you. Frustrating and draining. And yes, somehow, more often than not, it always seems to be the culprit who gets all the say/things going their way. I have no answer for this behaviour, but it must stop.
I wish you well and hope for the best for you. x

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Although, I must admit, letting it go can prove to be a challenge in itself.
