Taiwan Passes Law to Become First Asian Country to Ban Eating of Cats and Dogs

This is great news. Here’s hoping the rest will follow very quickly.

Earlier this year at the bill’s first reading, deputy agriculture minister Huang Jin-Cheng criticised Taiwan’s lack of a law prosecuting people who eat dog and cat meat, calling the change “necessary”.

72.4k Tweets

Apart from raising my son on my own, I am sure many are aware that I am an Animal Advocate. When I am not blogging, this is part of what I do. 72.4k tweets (and counting) helping to save the lives of as many animals as possible. (In case you are wondering, Anderson is my real surname).

We can all do our bit to save the Animal Kingdom – many of which are becoming extinct due to illegal poaching, trophy hunters and greed.

I know it is not something everyone may want to be involved in, but please spread the word. You may know others who will.

Thank you!

Animal Advocacy

As you may or may not know, I am an Animal Advocate. I cannot stand cruelty to animals in anyway, shape or form. If one cannot be nice to them, then I believe that one should just leave them alone. It is that simple.

Recently, I received a comment on my blog, from Making Waves Outreach, regarding the murders/deaths of my own kitties, at the hands of my ex-husband. If you have the time, and/or like me, this is something close to your heart, please check out their blog.

Through this blog, I share various pieces of information to help raise awareness about a variety of concerns. I hope you find my website and blog to be worth your time and that you consider using the power of social media to help spread the word.

This blog covers the following issues and concerns: animal rights, animal welfare, plant-based & vegetarian/vegan products, pet care tips & pet safety, pet adoption resources, environmental concerns and health-related issues.

What Is Wrong With People?

only the weak

“Only the weak are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong.”

Today, I heard on the news there was a terrible fire in Manchester UK, which involved a Kennel for stray dogs. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the fire was started on purpose by a teenager. The fire has claimed at least 40 lives (all dogs), and counting.

I then went on to watch a programme called “The Dog Rescuers”. I’d never seen it before, but it disturbed the crap out of me. Two cases really stood out.

The first involved two pit-bulls and a husky. The owners had left them alone in the property for God knows how long, but the police were called by a neighbour. The police then had to call the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), because the dogs were fighting. Anyway, to cut a long story short, one pit-bull was pretty much OK; the other had a few scratches. But the husky… There was blood and holes all over him from bite marks, the underneath of one paw had almost become detached – it was an awful sight. No one thought he would make it.

His recovery was slow and painful, but he lived! I tell you, my heart was in my throat. I felt helpless, but obviously, I couldn’t reach through the TV screen!

The second was just as disturbing… the RSPCA was called to a property, where there were a number of dogs. There was also a shallow grave… When part of it was uncovered, a puppy was found – alive, gasping for air. They dug some more and found another puppy in the same predicament. The f**king ‘owners’ had buried the poor puppies alive because they were of no use to them.

Unfortunately, they little pups had to be euthanized to put them out of their misery.

All the owners got was the pathetic maximum penalty of six months in jail and a ban from owning animals for life.

What the hell is wrong with people?
