Stray Cat Update

So, the stray cat I was trying to feed has put on a lot of weight! And it has nothing to do with me as I couldn’t get to it. I’m just grateful someone managed to get to him/her before it starved to death.

However, I have come across this tortoiseshell beauty! She has a lovely temperament, and purrs whenever I pet her. She also sits on my lap and talks to me. 🙂

Every morning, she waits on the door step for me so we can have a little bonding time. Afterwards, I feed her. She loves turkey slices, so I make sure I purchase some for her.

Then we bond some more. Play. Talk. Chill.

I want to keep her! ❤

I’m so tempted to take her to the vets to see whether or not she has a microchip…

Not sure… should I give her a name? Or could I possibly be setting myself up for disappointment as she may belong to someone? After my last two babies (cats) were euthanised out of spite, she’s the first cat that’s made me think I’m ready to bring another one home.

Any suggestions? :/

I’ve noticed a very skinny and shabby looking ginger and white cat, who I’ve been trying to befriend to feed it. It’s breaking my heart seeing the state s/he is in.

I bought food for it, but gets very scared when I approach it, and runs off. Other stray cats end up getting fed instead, which I of course don’t mind. I believe no human nor animal should go hungry.

This cat needs to realise I’m not going to give up that easily! I will continue to bring food to it every time s/he passes my way. I cannot watch it starve to death. Who knows? Maybe one day it will realise I’m trying to help, not harm.

If no luck within the next few days or so, I will have to call a no-kill shelter to help.

My New Project

I’ve decided to take up knitting again. This time, rather than doing it to curb the boredom of being stuck indoors, as I was when I originally moved to the US, I will be doing it for a good cause. I just wonder how many I will be able to get done over the next few months, when I’m already struggling for time!

I am making blankets (hopefully in time for winter), for the poor homeless cats and kittens stuck in shelters. I have lots of wool and several pairs of knitting needles from years ago, so I can get started without having to spend money I don’t have, but still am able to help at the same time.

Wish me luck!

the reason

(See “Kittens – Rupert, Stewart And Jacob“, “My Precious Girls, Oxanna And Phoenix“, and “Animal Advocate“.)

It’s been a year since I have been an Animal Advocate!

It’s been five months since I’ve stopped eating meat.

I still eat poultry and some seafood, but am looking to wean myself off poultry first, followed by the seafood over the next few weeks. I have been eating these for pretty much all my life, so I need to make sure I am getting all the vitamins, etc that I need.

Although it feels like a losing battle at times, I have helped to save many lives, so will continue to fight the fight.

In memory of Rupert Ellington, Stewart Gilligan, Jacob Bartholomew, Oxanna Monroe and Phoenix Azaela.
