Try If You Want

I love the words to this song.

Beres Hammond ❤

“Try If You Want”

As poor as I am I’ve got my ambition
Keep my distance from war and contention
I might not be rich but I sure got style
Got some good friends,
But still some who hate me
tell their lies
And still that don’t quake me
The joy thats inside
Brings out my healthy smile

Try if you want
Can’t stop me
Lie if you want
Still won’t move me
Won’t move me
Nooo
Won’t move me,at all.(x2)
I know who I am
I don’t let nobody
Underestimate me and you’ll end up sorry
The father will humble you like a child
Oh Yeah
I’m getting stronger
So much stronger
Day by day
I’m getting stronger
So much stronger
Can’t move me
Can’t move me
Nooo

Try if you want
Can’t stop me
Lie if you want
Still won’t move me
Won’t move me
Nooo
Won’t move me,at all.(x2)

Amidst all the pressures
I’ve still got to make it
Always pushing
The sky is my limit
So keep your idle talk
I don’t have the time
There’s so much in life
If you’re willing to earn it
I’ll give you some of mine
But please don’t stress it
Awake from the slumber
Open up your eyes
Try if you want
Can’t stop me
Lie if you want
Still won’t move me
Won’t move me
Nooo
Won’t move me,at all.(x2)
I’m getting stronger
So much stronger(stronger and stronger)
And you can’t move me, no (can’t move me,can’t move me)
Poor as I am I’ve got my ambition
Keep my distance from war and contention
I might not be rich but I sure got style
Got some good friends,
But still some who hate me
Tell their lies
And still that don’t quake me
The joy thats inside
Brings out my healthy smile
Try if you want
Can’t stop me
Lie if you want
Still won’t move me
Won’t move me
Nooo
Won’t move me,at all.(x3)

Continuing the reggae theme… Beres Hammond again.

“Try If You Want”

Wooo, Yeah!

As poor as I am I’ve got my ambition
Keep my distance from war and contention

Rockaway

Growing up in a Jamaican household where reggae was the norm, when I was isolated during my time in the US, (March 3rd 2012 – March 12th 2013), I used to cry as I missed my family and friends – as well as normality in my life. My mother’s favourite artist, I would play Beres Hammond tunes over and over again (when I was allowed to have my laptop and phone).

I never thought I’d see my family and friends again…

“Rockaway”

Chorus:

Oh Yeah
Oh I Miss Those Days Yes
I Miss Those Days Yeah
Remember The Songs
Used To Make You Rock Away
Those Were The Days
When Love Used To Reign , Hey
We Danced All Night To The Songs They Played
Weekend Come Again Do It Just The Same, Hey

Verse 1:
Now I Feel it To My Heart
Being Such A Golden Time Had to Part Yeas
Now There ‘s Hardly Any Safe Place Left To Go
Someone’s Bound To Come Any Try To Spoil The Show, Oh Oh

Chorus:
Remember The Songs
Used To Make You Rock Away
Those Were The Days
When Love Used To Reign, Hey
We Danced All Night To The Songs They Played
Weekend Come Again Do It Just The Same, Hey

Verse 2:
Hail John Holt, Alton Ellis, Derloy Wilson, Dennis Brown, Hey Hey
Big Youth, Josey Wailes, Daddy Roy
Would Wake The Town Yeah
And You Had To Hold Your Woman Real Close

Drift Away Play Stevie Play Sam Cooke Any Day Yeah
We Dance All Night To The Song They Play
Weekend Come Again Do It Just The Same Yeah
Right Now We Need A Brand New Start
People Everywhere Need More Music From The Heart
And If There Remain Such A Place That I Can go
Will Someone Tell Me Tell Me I love To Know

Chorus:
Remember The Songs
Used To Make You Rock Away
Those Were The Days
When Love Used To Reign, Hey
We Danced All Night To The Songs They Played
Weekend Come Again Do It Just The Same

Remember The Songs
Those Were The Days
When Love Used To Reign, Hey
We Danced All Night To The Songs They Played
Weekend Come Again Do It Just The Same

Remember The Nights

Remember The Songs
Used To Make You Rock Away
Those Were The Days
When Love Used To Reign, Hey
We Danced All Night To The Songs They Played
Weekend Come Again Do It Just The Same Hey
