Helping in the Community

Just a small portion of what we received last week.

You may or may not have seen I have slowed with my blog posts. As in writing my own material, rather than quotes. I have also slowed in responding to comments (not the ones which have gone astray, see Late Responses) as well as slowed in reading your posts again. I promise I do have a really good ‘excuse’ for this!

I am exhausted.

We cannot do great things on this earth, only small things with great love.

My sister came up with the idea of a charity to give back to the community. Together, we help to feed those in need with the help of Tesco Fareshare. Food (bread, bakery, fruit and vegetables) which would otherwise be thrown away is now used to cook free meals for senior citizens, given to the elderly, disabled, and those on the poverty line door to door (Outreach). It has grown so big in such a short space of time, we have had to go to an additional Tesco store to help us reach more people!

If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.

I’m also running around after my Little Yum-Yum (being a mother comes first!), blogging, learning Spanish (I have had to stop the other languages I started due to lack of time), actively helping to save as many animals as possible – mainly kittens/cats, using some of the small funds I have to survive on (no sacrifices are ever made on my son’s behalf, only mine), advocating against domestic abuse/violence, and a few other things in the mix.

I used to pray that God would feed the hungry, or do this and that, but now I pray that he will guide me to do whatever I’m supposed to do, what I can do. I used to pray for answers, but now I’m praying for strength. I used to believe that prayer changed things, but now I know that prayer changes us and we change things.

I also volunteer my time to help those in the community to fill out forms, from job applications to pensions, from housing issues to writing complaint letters.

It is a kindly act to assist the fallen.

So there you have it folks. Believe me, I have not told you this for praise. I just wanted to let you know my reasons for slacking.

I hope you can forgive me, for I am not ignoring you. I need to try to manage my time better I guess. Promise to catch up soon… I hope!

Much love. P. x
